  • Our Approach
At the Joliba Institute, our mission is to advance sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship in Africa. Through innovative research, strategic partnerships, and community engagement, we strive to empower individuals and communities to address critical challenges such as climate change, food insecurity, and biodiversity loss.
Our vision is to create a resilient and prosperous Africa where sustainable agricultural practices thrive, communities flourish, and ecosystems are preserved for future generations. We envision a continent where underutilized crops are valued, climate change impacts are mitigated, and youth play a leading role in shaping a sustainable future.
Our approach is rooted in collaboration, innovation, and action. We conduct research to identify cutting-edge technologies, successful case studies, and effective initiatives aligned with our goals. We engage with diverse stakeholders, including farmers, researchers, policymakers, and communities, to co-create solutions that promote sustainable agriculture and environmental resilience. By empowering youth, promoting underutilized crops, and advocating for policy change, we aim to drive tangible impact and create a more sustainable future for Africa.

Our Initiatives

Underutilized Crops

We promote the conservation, cultivation, and utilization of underutilized crops with high nutritional value and climate resilience. Through initiatives like the Lost Crops Festival and partnerships with research institutions, we work to increase awareness and adoption of these crops among farmers and consumers.

Policy Advocacy

We advocate for policies and investments that support sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, and youth empowerment at local, national, and regional levels. By engaging with policymakers, civil society organizations, and international agencies, we seek to influence decision-making and promote systemic change.

Youth Empowerment and Engagement

We empower young people to become leaders in sustainable development through educational programs, capacity building, and advocacy. Our initiatives, led by young individuals, are carried out through the Joliba Youth Network, comprising over thousand young people dedicated to raising awareness, enhancing skills, and promoting innovation to tackle environmental issues.

Community Initiatives

We collaborate with local communities to implement grassroots projects that promote sustainable agriculture, natural resource management, and climate resilience. Our community workshops, training sessions, and demonstration farms engage stakeholders and foster knowledge-sharing and collective action.

Climate Change Adaptation

Our reforestation initiatives aim to restore and protect vital ecosystems, combat deforestation, manage plastic waste and promote the circular economy.

Our Values

GET INVOLVE NOW
